4 month old killed, 2 others hurt in axe attack
Las Vegas Metro Homicide detectives are investigating an attack that left a 4 month old dead and two others wounded.
Police were called to the home on San Pedro Avenue near Maryland Parkway and Sahara just before noon on Thursday. Police say a suspect, who has been identified as 33 year old Harold Montagu, attacked a woman and her 4 month old baby in a stroller who were walking down the street. The 4 month old was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman is in extremely critical condition at Sunrise Hospital. Witnesses told police Montagu ran inside a home. As officers approached that house Montagu ran out, without the axe, and started attacking an officer. After a short struggle, Montagu was taken into custody. The officer suffered minor injuries. Officers then went inside the home after taking the suspect into custody and found a woman lying in a bedroom with stab wounds. She is recovering at UMC where she is in stable condition. Police believe Montagu attacked the woman inside the house first, then went outside and attacked the other woman and her baby. Police believe Montagu did not know the woman or the baby and that the attack on them was random. Police are still trying to determine what relationship Montagu has with the woman found inside the house. Montagu's booking photo is not being released nor is his criminal history.
