3 believed to be dead, 5 more injured as car crashes into Edgewater Casino, Laughlin
A speeding vehicle crashed through the entrance of the Edgewater Casino in Laughlin at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. 3 are believed to be dead and at least eight others were injured before the vehicle got wedged at a bank of slot machines. Investigators believe the male driver, 75, suffered a medical problem before the crash.
The vehicle went thru the glass doors at the front entrance, knocked over a bunch of slots and came to rest in the gaming area. A Bullhead City fireman estimated the vehicle came to rest about 35 feet inside the casino. Slot machines were wiped out, tumbled and tossed. One of the dead ended up a few feet from the back of the vehicle. Another was wedged beneath the vehicle and some slot machines. Five people were taken to hospitals with unspecified injuries, and three others, including the driver, were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Power was immediately shut off, and the casino area was evacuated. The driver of the silver Pontiac Vibe was being questioned. Authorities are hoping the casino security videotapes will show every detail of the crash, including the car approaching from nearby and crashing through the glass doors. It is believed the deceased never saw it coming. The chief operating officer at the casino said he was told the vehicle plowed through the lobby after speeding down a 150-foot horseshoe-shaped driveway toward the hotel. The speed was estimated to be more than 60 miles per hour. Witnesses told police the vehicle approached the front of the hotel at "an extremely high rate of speed." Police at the scene reported that alcohol or drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash. Call or email us today and let GSX help your business to grow. Email: Click Here Phone: (928) 768-1400
