2/9 Kingman - 3 county jail inmates refuse to return to cell, cause riot

Three inmates at the county jail are now facing riot charges.

John Paul Ramos, 26, of Kingman, Ramey Ramiro Villanueva, 23, of Lake Havasu City and Rudy Nicholas Molina, 18, of Bullhead City, are facing charges of felony destruction to a public jail after the trio broke the overhead sprinkler system piping, several light fixtures and a metal track from a cell door in the A-pod.

One inmate, Villanueva, was charged with stabbing a Kingman Marine at a Lake Havasu bar earlier this month.

According to Trish Carter, spokesperson for the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, inmates are allowed one hour a day in the commons area on a rotating basis. Ramos, Villanueva and Molina were the only inmates in the common area around 9:45 p.m. when they refused orders to return to their cells and began breaking things.

A-pod is the maximum security level that houses inmates. MCSO deputies and detention officers had the disturbance under control within an hour and no injuries were reported. A-pod was on lock-down for a period of time.
