Neighbors eyes helped deputies stop burglary suspect
Now this is the way it is suppose to work. Paul Maxwell says, "To have good neighbors, you have to be a good neighbor." This is a perfect example.
When a neighbor had her eyes open and decided to observe, she helped the Mohave County Sheriff's Office catch a burglar in the act Tuesday. According to Trish Carter, spokesperson for MCSO, a woman living in the 4000 block of Thompson Avenue noticed a bicycle on her neighbor's fence line just before 2 p.m. that she hadn't seen previously on the property. Knowing that her neighbor wasn't home and didn't own a bike like that, the woman sent her husband out to investigate. The husband went to check on the neighbor's home and came across Fredy Cotera Garay, 43, stalking around in the yard. Garay said he was a real estate agent and that he was taking pictures to list the property for sale. The neighbors, who knew the home wasn't being put up for sale, called authorities. A detective in the area who heard the call over the radio responded to the residence and found Garay in possession of numerous CDs, VHS movies, a video game controller and a tow strap, which allegedly belonged to the victim, according to Carter. After Garay was taken into custody, the suspect allegedly told deputies that he didn't understand why he was being arrested because he found the items on the floor and only trespassed inside the residence. He also said the items weren't worth anything anyway. This arrest demonstrates the importance of neighbors looking out for one another. "If it wasn't for the neighbor, this guy could have gotten away," Carter added. Call or email us today and let GSX help your business to grow. Email: Click Here Phone: (928) 768-1400
