Man beats friend with tire iron
Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an unknown disturbance call at a residence in the 4600 block of Apollo Street and contacted a male subject. The male subject identified as Samuel Earl Cooper Jr., 38, of Fort Mohave. Cooper advised that he was assaulted by a friend earlier. Cooper said he was traveling northbound on Highway 95 near Aztec Road when his friend started following him in another vehicle. He said he pulled his vehicle over on Apollo to see what his friend wanted. Then his friend approached his vehicle and accused him of stealing a casino pass card. Cooper said his friend punched him in the face and they started fighting. Deputies did not observe Cooper to have any injuries.
Deputies responded to the friend’s residence in Fort Mohave and learned that the friend was taken to Valley View Medical Center. Deputies responded to the hospital and determined the friend to be a male victim, 38. He said Cooper started beating him with a tire iron. The victim said he confronted Cooper about possibly taking some of his property when Cooper attacked him. Deputies observed the victim to have lacerations and scratches to his face, neck, arms, back and legs. Deputies further observed a 4 to 5 inch laceration on the victims’ head. Deputies responded back to Cooper’s residence and re-contacted him. Cooper said that he punched and pushed him and he did not use a weapon. Deputies located 2 tire irons in his vehicle. Cooper was arrested Saturday evening for aggravated assault serious physical injury and aggravated assault with a dangerous instrument, felonies.
