3.11 Mohave County - MEAT WARNING from Mohave County Sheriff's Office

Mohave County Sheriff’s Office has had numerous reports of people selling raw meat from coolers transported in pick-up trucks in the Kingman area.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind people that not only can it be a possible health hazard, but it’s also illegal to sell uninspected meat by private parties.

Any solicitor selling raw meat must have a Mohave County Mobile Food Unit Permit, additionally all meat must be packaged and display an inspection sticker from the USDA or ADA. In Mohave County the meat must be frozen and transported in a refrigerated vehicle.

There are three reputable vendors within Mohave County that are in compliance, they will have refrigerated trucks marked with company names and/or logos.

Anyone who is approached door to door to purchase meat in violation of the above restrictions is encouraged to contact law enforcement to report the solicitor. Vehicle license numbers and vehicle descriptions will assist law enforcement in locating the individuals.
