Valley View donates $30,000 to Boys & Girls Club
Valley View Medical Center has been named the exclusive title sponsor for the annual “Chip In Fore Kids” charity golf tournament benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Colorado River. Valley View has pledged $10,000 annually for the next three years to underwrite the golf classic which, in turn, will generate additional funds for the organization.
More than 2,500 individual kids from the Tri-State area are served each year at the Boys & Girls Clubs’ three locations in Bullhead City, Ft. Mohave and Laughlin. A portion of Valley View’s sponsorship will be used for scholarships covering daily fees as well as some basic operating costs. “The Chip In Fore Kids Golf Classic is in its 22nd year,” said Stacey Swartzman, the Clubs’ board president. “Valley View’s sponsorship is not only seed money for the golf tournament but it will allow many children the opportunity to continue participating in Club activities. We are the positive place for kids after school and in the summertime.” The golf tournament is hosted by Desert Lakes Golf Course in Ft. Mohave on May 8. “Part of being a good hospital is being a good neighbor that gives back to the community,” said Valley View CEO Allen Peters. “We’re thrilled to help the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Colorado River not just today but for the future. Valley View is reaching deep into our pockets because we’re dedicated to supporting the community that has supported us.” The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Colorado River’s executive director, Teri Tomlinson, noted that the non-profit organization’s demand for services goes up when the economy is weakened, further highlighting the need for donations and contributions. Registration information about the Chip In Fore Kids charity golf classic is available from Cindy Evans at the Boys & Girls Clubs at 928-763-1411 or John McCormick at 928-763-2867. The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Colorado River have been serving children throughout the Tri-State area for 25 years. The Bullhead City and Laughlin clubs operate year-around, while the Fort Mohave club operates seasonally throughout the school year. Valley View is a 66-bed acute care hospital with two adjacent medical office buildings and an on-campus outpatient rehabilitation complex. It is in the process of adding 24 new beds in several departments as part of an $8 million, 14,000 square foot expansion scheduled for completion this fall. Valley View is part of LifePoint Hospitals, Inc., a leading hospital company dedicated to providing quality healthcare in non-urban communities.
