AZ Corporation Commission approves new rules for energy efficiency
Arizona’s Corporation Commission this week approved new rules to increase the use of energy efficiency programs by utilities throughout the state. Mohave Electric Cooperative spokeswoman Peggy Gillman says the ACC’s action could lead to a higher monthly surcharge for customers — but more programs will likely result.
“There will be some more programs which will be developed, where [customers] can take advantage of more enhanced programs than are in place right now to help energy efficiency and help lower their bills,” Gillman said. “With these new guidelines it will require a surcharge on member bills to handle the new enhanced programs that they’re asking for.” The new energy efficiency rules approved by the ACC are now being sent to Attorney General Terry Goddard for endorsement before they are implemented. If the rules are approved, Gillman says each regulated utility “will then file their plan with the commission. The commission will then review those plans” and make changes as needed. Once those plans are approved, Gillman said a schedule will be forthcoming by the ACC for an implementation date. Call or email us today and let GSX help your business to grow.
