Attempted murder with a vehicle
Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Juan Manuel Cervantes, 23, of Mohave Valley, late Wednesday evening for attempted first degree murder, resisting arrest, unlawful flight from law enforcement, aggravated assault, criminal damage, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, all felonies.
Tuesday morning, at about 1:15 a.m., deputies responded to a criminal damage report at a residence in the 1600 block of E Valley Parkway. Deputies were informed that the suspect identified as Cervantes left the scene driving a green Chevy truck and he may be armed with a handgun. Deputies immediately responded to the area in search of the suspect. Then deputies were informed that a male subject was trapped in a bedroom at the residence. Deputies learned the suspects’ vehicle ran into the bedroom wall. Upon arrival, deputies immediately assisted the male victim, 72, from the bedroom floor where he was located between the foot of the bed and a dresser. The victim said that he was sleeping in his bed and the next thing he knew he was on the floor. Deputies observed the victim to have a laceration to his left knee. Medical responded and transported the victim to Valley View Medical Center. Deputies observed tire tracks of where a vehicle had struck the residence. The damage to the residence is estimated $2,000 or more. Wednesday evening at about 9:30 p.m. deputies observed a male subject traveling 60 miles per hour on Mountain View near Laguna on a red and white quad. The operator fail to stop at the stop sign at the intersection. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued travelling. Deputies continued following the quad as it travelled on Reservation Road, across Highway 95, and finally through a farm field. As deputies approached an irrigation canal, they observed the quad to be unoccupied. A search of the area revealed a male subject, later identified as Cervantes, hiding on the ground in the 2 foot tall crops. Cervantes struggled as he was taken into custody. Mohave Valley Fire Department responded as Cervantes complained of pain. He was transported to Valley View Medical Center where he was treated and medically released. Cervantes was transported to Mohave County District II Substation. A search of Cervantes revealed a clear plastic tube containing marijuana and a glass pipe with marijuana. Cervantes admitted to purposely running his vehicle into his girlfriends’ parent’s residence. Cervantes was booked into the jail without further incident. The truck was located Wednesday morning abandoned in a dirt lot in the 2000 block of Mustang Road. Call or email us today and let GSX help your business to grow.
