Sheriff Sheahan awards boy, 10, for bravery and saving family
A ten year old boy who made a call to authorities during a home invasion has been honored by Mohave County Sheriff Tom Sheahan. The Sheriff presented Dillon Gonzales with a plaque and words of praise.
Gonzales was in the bathroom and called 911 after an intruder entered his family's home and would not let them leave. Sheriff Sheahan said Gonzales was brave and composed in alerting law enforcement officials through a dispatcher. Sheriff Tom Sheahan acknowledged Dillon Gonzales, 10, for his bravery on July 1, 2010. Dillon was home with his family when James Lee Lemon, 30, of Kingman entered their residence. Dillon was hiding in the bathroom during the emergency call. Dillon was able to keep dispatchers advised of the activity going on inside the residence. Dillon remained very calm and was able to provide dispatchers with all information needed in order to have this incident peacefully secured without anyone being injured. Dillon and his family met the dispatcher, Linda Glasco who remained on the telephone with him until law enforcement pulled him from a bathroom window. Sheriff Tom Sheahan presented Dillon Gonzales with a certificate, a sheriff’s office ball cap and a miniature sheriff’s badge for his heroic actions.
