7.28 Phoenix - At least 3 dead after fatal shootout in south Phoenix

A Chandler police officer is dead after being shot during an undercover operation in south Phoenix Wednesday evening shortly before 7:00 p.m.

According to Phoenix police, two other officers were also shot and have been transported to Valley hospitals. One of them is in critical condition and the other is listed in stable condition.

Phoenix police officers searched for seven suspects just before sunset. A Phoenix PD spokesperson said two suspects were killed at the scene. Two others were taken into custody and the remaining three were injured and transported to area hospitals.

The entire incident was obviously drug related.

Police believe they have detained all suspects who may have been involved in the incident. Several men were taken away from the scene in ambulances just after 7:00 p.m.

One photo alone showed over 30 police vehicles. Then there were firetrucks, ambulances and countless personnel at the scene of the shootings.
