Frontier becomes largest rural telephone provider in U.S.
On July 1, 2010, Frontier Communications' aquisition of a portion of Verizon Communications has made Frontier the largest rural telephone service provider in the U.S.
Frontier says that they now serve markets in 27 states across the country. It's basically going to be very transparent to their existing customers in Mohave County. It's going to be business as usual. When the deal was announced last year, it was said Frontier would acquire 4.8 million wired telephone connections from Verizon. The all stock transaction is said to be valued at around $8.6 billion.
