4th of July safety, fireworks & shooting a gun is Illegal
The Fourth of July holiday weekend is upon us. The Bullhead City Police Department and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office reminds residents that fireworks are still illegal in the State of Arizona and you can be arrested for possessing, selling or using them. The new Arizona fireworks law does not go into effect until January 1st, 2011.
“All fireworks have the potential to be hazardous and cause injuries – and they are illegal,” said Bullhead City Police Chief Rodney Head. “Fireworks can also cause wildfires, especially during this time of year when vegetation is dry. Fireworks can also start structure fires or house fires if they land on the roof.” Fireworks include; firecrackers, torpedoes, skyrockets, roman candles, sparklers or other fireworks of like construction, containing any explosive or combustible compound. Sparklers may seem harmless, but they are illegal and burn at 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit, which can easily ignite clothing. Law enforcement throughout the county urges citizens to leave firework displays to the professionals. The local fireworks shows are safe and more spectacular to watch! “Shooting a gun into the air is also extremely dangerous and illegal,” said Chief Head. “Unlawful discharge of a weapon, causing injury or damage, is a felony.” Police officers, deputies and patrols will be out in force during the Fourth of July holiday weekend to ensure people on the waterways and roadways are being safe and not driving or operating under the influence of alcohol. Remember to always have a designated driver. Have a safe and happy Fourth of July! Call or email us today and let GSX help your business to grow. Email: Click Here Phone: (928) 768-1400
