Man, 20, killed when lighting illegal fireworks
Las Vegas police said a man was killed after shrapnel from fireworks hit his chest. The incident happened about 10:15 p.m. Sunday. The man died at University Medical Center.
A teenager, 17, was also injured and taken to Sunrise Children's Hospital with injuries to his bicep and leg. Neighbors said the man and teenager were using a homemade device to light the fireworks. “All of a sudden there was a bomb,” the neighbor said, who was sweeping up his fireworks when the explosion happened. “It was just like, it wasn't a firework. It was a loud BOOM! and it shook the ground right here.” The neighbor across the street said a piece of shrapnel flew over their heads. Police said it appears to be a mishap involving fireworks and another kind of device. Police said this was not normal fireworks. The bomb squad was on the scene. Even though a preliminary investigation indicates this is an accident, homicide detectives were also investigating. Neighbors said they feel bad for the victims, but those playing with the fireworks should have known better. They said there's a reason most fireworks are illegal. It's because people like this go too far. Call or email us today and let GSX help your business to grow. Email: Click Here Phone: (928) 768-1400
