Illegal immigrants arrested at Las Vegas bus station
Just as the controversial immigration reform goes into effect in Arizona, a group of illegal immigrants is nabbed by federal agents, in Las Vegas.
Neighborhood watch signs are meant to deter crime, but this area was being watched by federal agents. They showed up undercover at this bus station to catch a group of illegal immigrants, who were on their way to California and Mexico. "The officers said they came from a station in Yuma, Arizona," says Rogelio Gaytan, manager of Tufesa Bus Company. "I went outside and asked them to identify themselves, because they weren't wearing badges," he says. "But then they showed their badges under their jacket. They didn't answer me at first when I asked them, because they were just taking people away. They arrested 10 to 15 people." He also said the vehicles they were driving, didn't have any government identification. But they did have Arizona license plates. "There was a mother with three kids, and she was arrested," he describes. "The kids were left behind. Some families came to pick them up." Gaytan says he's worked at the bus station for three years and has never experienced anything like this. "The Border Patrol agents said it's part of a standard enforcement operation, and that there could be more to come. They plan to do more raids throughout the next week."
