8.01 Mohave Valley - Couple shot after fight with "dark skins" at convenience store

Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting incident at a convenience store late Sunday evening at about 11:00 p.m., in the 10000 block of South Harbor Avenue, Highway 95 and Courtright.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that two gun shot victims were in transport to Valley View Medical Center.

The victims are boyfriend, 33, of Fort Mohave and girlfriend, 21, of Mohave Valley.

Both victims were later airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas. The female victim was treated and released.

Deputies have determined that the victims were about to drive out of the parking lot after they had purchased gasoline.

Deputies were told that the victims drove past a white 4-door sedan vehicle with two male occupants inside, parked near the air pumps in the convenience store parking lot.

There was possibly an exchange of words amongst the victims and the suspects. The victims backed up their vehicle to get closer to the suspects and then got out of their vehicle. Then, the suspects got out of their vehicle and began fighting. A third male suspect exited the store and joined in on the fight.

At one point, the male victim was able to retreat to his vehicle. Then the three male suspects got into their vehicle. The male victim ran to the driver’s side of the suspect’s vehicle where he was shot multiple times.

After the male victim fell to the ground, the female victim ran to the driver’s side of the vehicle where she was also shot.

The suspects fled the scene. The male suspects are all dark skin, possibly Hispanic or Indian.

No names are available at this time. This case remains under investigation.

Anyone with any information regarding this shooting incident is asked to contact Mohave County Sheriff’s Office at (928) 753-0753 or Silent Witness at (888) 227-8780.
