Man enters home, shoots 6 people, takes 2 children, shoots self
A police says that a man entered a home on Opossum Drive in Lake Havasu City shortly before midnight Saturday and shot six people, then left with his two children.
Brian Diez, 26, was prohibited by a court issued order from seeing his two children. Diez and his former girlfriend were in a bitter custody battle over the two children. Diez drove to Rancho Cucamonga, CA, where he committed suicide, leaving his children with relatives. Deborah Langstaff, 23, was a nurse at Havasu Regional Medical Center. She and the children lived with her grandfather. Langstaff had invited friends to a birthday party for Primo Verdone, 24, whom she was currently dating, the report said. Verdone was among the victims dead at the scene along with Langstaff, Ashley Nyland, 20, and Russell Nyland, 42. Two others, Brock Kelson, 20, and Deborah Nyland, 44, were taken to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas, where Kelson died. Deborah Nyland was in intensive care with a good chance of recovery. A little more than three hours after the shootings, Lake Havasu police investigators discovered that Diez's vehicle was parked at a home in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, more than 250 miles away from the site of the killings. At about the same time, local sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the same residence, responding to a report of a suicide. The two children, Kaia, 4, and Cole, 13 months, were found safe at the Rancho Cucamonga residence with family members. An unknown source says Diez had a job in Lake Havasu City at a retail business that sold boat parts and accessories. Call or email us today and let GSX help your business to grow.
