Couple arrested for false I.D., squatting and possession of drugs
Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Stephen Loy Barrington, 27, of Mohave Valley, and Sheri Kay Griffith, 47 of Fort Mohave, Tuesday afternoon.
Barrington was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, felonies. Griffith was arrested for false reporting to law enforcement along with two warrants for failure to pay fines issued by Bullhead City Justice Court and contempt of court issued by Bullhead City Municipal Court. At about 1:00 p.m., deputies responded to the 1800 block of Agua View Road in reference to squatters. Deputies observed a camping trailer parked under the awning of the property. Deputies contacted a female subject which came out of the trailer. The female subject falsely identified herself numerous times. Deputies contacted the co-trustee of the property and he advised that he wanted them to leave the property. With the assistance of dispatch, they determined the women’s identity to be Griffith. Griffith said that she lied about her name because she has warrants. A record check showed Griffith to have outstanding warrants. Deputies located a male subject, later identified as Barrington, hiding inside the trailer. Deputies found Barrington to be in possession of a pipe with an usable amount of marijuana inside the bowl. Barrington and Griffith were taken into custody without incident. They were transported and booked into the Mohave County District II Substation.
