8.24 Mohave County - Officials in Kingman this week for meetings about Mohave County Wind Farm project

Federal and local officials are in Kingman this week for a series of meetings over the proposed Mohave County Wind Farm project.

The meetings are public and are being held Tuesday through Thursday. The meetings involve the Bureau of Land Management, Western Area Power Administration and the Bureau of Reclamation.

The company, BP Wind Energy of North America, wants to build a wind farm of 335 wind turbine generators on federal land in Mohave County.

The site of discussion is 40,000 acres of public land in the White Hills area about 40 miles northwest of Kingman and 20 miles southeast of Hoover Dam.

The project is anticipated to provide up to 500 megawatts of electricity.

Residents have until September 9 to provide comments on the project to the BLM.
