MCSO boating officer earns national award
Mohave County Sheriff’s Officer earns a National award on Tuesday, September 14th, at the 51st annual meeting held in Honolulu. The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) presented its prestigious national Boating Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award to Sergeant Doug Schuster, a 21-year veteran with MCSO. Sgt. Schuster was previously awarded the state Boating Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award in Utah where the Western States Association funded his trip.
According to Kevin Bergersen, Arizona Game and Fish Law Enforcement Programs Coordinator, NASBLA established its Boating Law Enforcement Officer of the Year program in 2000 to celebrate the nation’s outstanding marine officers. The Boating Officer of the Year Award is presented to deserving recipients at the three levels – state, regional and national. This year, officers from 42 separate states and territories were nominated for the national award. Sgt Schuster’s trip to Honolulu was funded by NASBLA. Sheriff Tom Sheahan said, “I’m extremely proud of Sgt. Schuster. The recipient of this award did not surprise me, as Sgt. Schuster is most deserving of this honor.” Photo caption: Sgt.
