Man with bomb at Arizona Charlie's on Boulder Hwy in custody
Just before 10:00 a.m. Metro Police received a call about a man with an explosive device had entered Arizona Charlie's Casino.
A Metro spokesperson said the adult male entered the casino, walked up to security, and lifted up his shirt to show an explosive device strapped to his waist. The suspect informed security that they had five minutes to get everyone out. Somehow security was able to talk or persuade the suspect into leaving the casino area but he did not leave the hotel property. Instead he sat down in the grassy area to the north of Arizona Charlie's. Police had locked down the parking garage and the casino and surrounding areas had been evacuated as a precaution. The police SWAT team was also called to the scene. Two hours later the suspect finally was taken into custody. Metro Police Bomb Squad was able to successfully remove the alleged explosive device from the suspect without incident. At this time it is unknown if the device was explosive or just a fake.
