Food store owner busted for tobacco tax evasion 
On 9.08.10 the Bullhead City Police Department assisted investigators from the Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) with the service of search warrants in the 2200 block of Breon Drive in Bullhead City and the Fort Mohave Food Store in the 4500 block of Highway 95.
The search warrant was predicated on information about commercial deliveries of suspected untaxed tobacco products to the house on Breon Drive, as well as surveillance conducted by ADOR investigators. ADOR investigators seized a substantial amount of untaxed tobacco products from the home and business. Some of the items seized included cases of large and small cigars, blunt wraps and smoking and chewing tobacco. The seized contraband represents approximately $3,700 in uncollected taxes. ADOR is forwarding the case to the Office of the Attorney General for review of possible criminal charges against Mark Malan, 50, the store owner / manager. Under Arizona law any person who evades the reporting, assessment or payment of cigarette or tobacco product taxes that would otherwise be due may be guilty of cigarette or tobacco tax evasion. Violations are subject to fines or / and jail time.
