Drunk charged with 2 counts aggravated assault, resisting arrest
Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Larry Dwain Brockman, 71, of Mohave Valley, early Wednesday (1/11) evening on two counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement and resisting arrest, felonies.
At about 6:00 p.m., deputies responded to a suspicious call at Highway 95 and Lipan Boulevard. Dispatch advised that the reporting party was giving Brockman a ride home in Brockman’s red jeep when Brockman grabbed a hold of the steering forcing the vehicle off the roadway. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the reporting party (RP) who advised that he observed Brockman in a parking lot outside of a bar stumbling to his vehicle. The RP further said that he approached Brockman as he sat in the driver’s seat of his jeep and told him that he was drunk and should not be driving. The RP said that he offered to drive Brockman home while his wife was following behind them in their vehicle. The RP further said that Brockman became agitated and tried hitting him as he was driving. Deputies contacted Brockman and smelled a strong odor of alcohol on him. Brockman became combative when he was advised that he would not be getting his keys to drive. A taser was eventually used to place Brockman into custody after he continued to resist and be combative with two deputies. Brockman was transported to Valley View Medical Center where he was medically released. He was transported and booked into the Mohave County District II Substation.
