Police Department kicks off P.A.C.T. Academy
The Bullhead City Police Department has kicked off its P.A.C.T. (Police and Citizens Together) Academy.
The first of the nine monthly classes, held Thursday evening, gave the 33 participants a tour of the police station, including the holding facility and Bureau of Patrol. “I thought it was very informative, and even fun,” said P.A.C.T. Academy participant Christie Nickerson. “The booking room was very interesting. Especially seeing the cells and learning about the whole booking process of a prisoner.” The Citizens’ Police Academy replaces the Bullhead City Police Department’s monthly P.A.C.T. meetings. “In the new year, we decided to create a program so community members can gain a greater understanding of the police department and its operations through class lectures as well as hands-on experiences,” said Community Services Officer Lorrie Duggins. “It’s going to be a lot of fun!” There is no cost to apply or enter the P.A.C.T. Academy. The 2012 Academy participants will graduate in September.
