Four die when SUV dives off N. Arizona road
Yavapai County Sheriff's officials have identified four men who were killed when an SUV fell off a cliff near Crown King Wednesday.
Yavapai County Sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn identified the victims as Kevin Waycaster, 47, and his son Micah, 16, both from Glendale, and Phoenix residents Garry Schneider, 67, and Robert Fisher, who was in his 70s. The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. when the victim's Chevy SUV apparently left Cow Creek Road and fell about 100 feet before stopping. Officials said a DPS helicopter located the vehicle and crews indicated that there were four people inside and all appeared to be dead. According to D'Evelyn the four men were all members of a church group participating in a men's retreat in the area. "It's left behind a huge whole in this ministry, a huge hole," said Pastor Kevin Schaal, of Northwest Valley Baptist Church. The victims were all members of the Glendale church. The Waycasters, along with Schneider and Fisher, were traveling with nearly 40 church friends to a retreat when their SUV rolled, approximately six to seven miles south of Crown King. Family and friends are trying to cope. "They're grieving, they're mourning their loss, they're in a little bit of shock," said Schaal. "Kevin has been a friend of mine for more than 15 years, a dear close friend, so it's a great loss." On Thanksgiving Day family and friends remembered their loved ones for the life they lived. "We're thankful for the gift of these people and their lives and how precious they were to us," said Schaal. Call or email us today and let GSX help your business to grow.
