Meteor turns night to day in western sky  Did you see it? A streaking fireball briefly illuminated parts of the sky in the western U.S. almost to daylight-level Wednesday morning. Some people thought the world was about to end. They must have just come from the movie 2012. Someone said, "It looks like a shooting star on steroids." It only lasted a few seconds, but it was enough to scare just about anyone. It was about the size of a person. It broke through the Earth's atmosphere at at speed of about 80,000 mph.
