12/1 Kingman - Kingman policeman fired after being shot in line of duty

On August 2, 2009, Officer Timothy Sparr and another officer responded to a domestic dispute. They were on the front porch of a home speaking to a woman through the door. The woman, a Mohave County Probation Officer, passed her baby to the other officer. Then the suspect inside the home, the woman's husband, shot her in the head, killing her. She was 26. She was just trying to save her baby.

The bullet that killed the woman hit Officer Sparr in the left arm. Sparr took a medical leave of absence after the incident, but returned to full duty on October 19, 2009.

On November 20, 2009, the Kingman Police Department fired Officer Sparr. The department refused to comment on Officer Sparr's termination other than the words "policy violations."
